A Finding Nemo 1st Birthday

If you're not up for reading you may scroll down for the finished results!! Sorry I talk a lot! lol
So for Kowen's first birthday I thought long and hard about a theme that would be perfect. I knew I wanted something bright, colorful, and easy to accomplish!! I also was on a tight budget so most of the decorations were going to have to be made. So with that I began my hunt. I didn't want anything typical or too boring. I wanted something that would really get a reaction out of my little man. So after many failed ideas I finally found the perfect one! Finding Nemo it was! The bright colors of the ocean were perfect! The ideas flowing through my mind were endless. I couldn't wait to get started!!! I first hit the Dollar Tree (remember I'm on a tight budget). This place was my favorite go to store for planning a birthday! Everything priced at $1? Yes Please! I began looking for anything that could be used for under the sea decorations. Anything that had to do with fish I grabbed. I also found blue and green food trays in addition to some orange plastic bowls I could use for decorating! I bought some blue and green table clothes to give off of course the under water effect. I could get almost everything I needed from the Dollar Tree!! So that saved me a lot! Next I went to Hobby Lobby. Who doesn't love this store? It has almost anything you could ever think of here! Since his birthday is in May I was lucky to find a lot of summer themed items. I got a good price on a grass skirt I could use as seaweed and some blowup fish I could hang around the house. I was in heaven! I also bought supplies needed to make a balloon wreath! I could hardly wait to see how everything would look together!! My last stop was Wal-Mart where I was lucky enough to find Finding Nemo themed birthday supplies. I was able to get the plates I needed, cups, table cloth, and a banner all for a reasonable price. C'mon its Wal-Mart. OH and I also went to their fish section and found the perfect little Nemo look alike to be the ultimate center piece at the party! So with most of my decorations purchased I just needed some finishing touches. I did the rest of my shopping from the comfort of my couch. I bought a customized shirt for Kowen to wear on Etsy.com. I found an awesome balloon bundle deal on Ebay! Yes, you read that right, EBAY! I had no idea they sold balloons until I tried looking and they actually have a lot of themes on there! Ebay sells everything I swear! One of the last things I purchased might just be my favorite. I found a soft clown fish fin on Amazon.com that Kowen could wear through out his whole party! Kowen could be Nemo himself! Needless to say the party was a hit and everyone was amazed by this under water birthday bash! Kowen enjoyed his fishy fiesta and this Momma sure was proud for making it all happen!!! Down below is the finished product! Enjoy the pictures and I hope I was able to spark a few ideas for you all!

The orange jellyfish sure did bring the whole under water effect together! Every body loved them and told me over and over again how awesome it looked! They are so simple to make you might not believe me. I bought a 4 pack of orange plastic bowls from the Dollar Tree for $1. I then took Orange ribbon and cut them in many different lengths and curled them with scissors and taped them to the inside. To hang them I poked a hole in the bottom of the bowl and fished orange yarn into the hole, knotted it on the inside and then tacked the other side to the ceiling at my desired length!! It was that easy!

You can see in the picture above the blowup fish I bought from Hobby Lobby. I hung them from the ceiling with string.
In this picture above I took green streamer and taped it just above the base boards and twisted them to look like seaweed. I then blew up different sized balloons to look like fish swimming through.
Finding Nemo hanging out at the party!
My Birthday Boy wearing his custom shirt from Etsy!
Everyone loved his little fin! He had such an awesome time!!

Some of the balloons that I bought from Ebay!
Here is the balloon wreath I made! It was so easy to make and it turned out awesome!
His smash cake from the Wal-Mart. They did awesome with the colors on both cakes!
